Things have been quiet here as I’ve been focusing on some other projects, like the Instrument Cases podcast and working toward a new chapbook of “composition lesson” stories (which I’ve been previewing on my Instagram).
A big component of this, which has been in my mind for years, is a print publishing company. So here is a short introduction to Sound Pudding Press.
SPP presents printed products related to music, including visual art, poetry, and zines. It is intimately connected to my other work–the zines quote from Instrument Cases, the visual art also appears on my music scores, and the poetry is based on my research.
My two main areas of interest: what instruments mean (common references, tropes, moods, etc.) and how we listen (listening pedagogy, perception of musical elements, etc.). SPP is an outlet for me to explore some of these ideas in written art visual form.
